How do you build and maintain a healthy ‘Business’ presence on a ‘Social’ platform, without spending too much time or money? The key is to have a strategy in place from the get-go, be consistent with your communication style and personal in your approach.
It sounds easy, but in reality, it can be really difficult to post fresh & engaging content on a daily basis. It can feel overwhelming and frustrating, especially if you’re not seeing any clear results in return for your effort.
Truth is, most businesses will simply give up, lose their motivation and stick to traditional (more expensive) forms of marketing.
However, businesses that learn how to use Facebook effectively can be extremely successful. It’s an opportunity to interact with your existing customers, build relationships with new customers & increase overall likability. You’re essentially giving your business a personality.
So although it might not be easy, it certainly is possible & worthwhile! Even if you’re not normally an avid social media user…
Here are my top tips that will help you build and maintain your Facebook Page, saving you time and improving your overall reach and engagement rates.
Manage your Facebook Page from your Phone!
Facebook have an App called ‘Pages Manager’ which helps admins connect with their audience in real-time and keep up with activity on multiple Pages, all in one place.
You can post photos and videos (including live stream) directly to your page, read private messages sent to your page, receive notifications & check insights.
Using this App for your Facebook Page will help separate your Personal Profile from your Business Page.
Use Canva to create amazing Social Media Content
Whether you’re a new business starting out or an existing one looking to improve your social media strategy – visual content will play a huge role in establishing your brand image.
Canva allows you to create interesting and engaging social media graphics. Choose from the pre-designed layouts or create your own images from scratch. It’s perfect for creating cover photos, photo collages, promotional images, quotes & more.

Save posts in your Newsfeed & Share it to your Business Page
Most people are still unaware of the ‘Saved Posts’ feature in Facebook. It’s Facebook’s version of the bookmark tab in your safari.
If you come across a post while scrolling through your newsfeed that you think you’d like to read later or share to your Business page; whether it be an article, funny video or motivational quote… Save it! Chances are if you keep scrolling, you’ll never see it again or forget about it within a couple of minutes.
Saving a post is very simple! When someone in your feed posts a link, just click the Save button in the bottom right of the post or the drop down arrow in the upper right of a post (see below) and then select Save.
To view or share something you’ve saved, you can click “Saved” in the lefthand column. A list of all your saved posts will appear, organized by category (links, places, music, books, movies, TV shows, and events), so you can access them by clicking one of those titles, or you can click “All” to see all the things you’ve saved. From there, you can tap Share & Share it on a page you manage.
Schedule your Posts
Scheduling your posts will allow you to post on a more regular basis, without having to spend hours every day on your Facebook Page. You’ll find that when you post on a regular basis your post reach and engagement rates will increase dramatically.
Facebook will allow you to schedule your posts up to 6 months in advance, however, I only recommend scheduling a week or two weeks in advance, because a lot can change in a couple of weeks and you want to make sure your content is current & fresh.
When you schedule a post, you can choose the specific date & time you want your post to be published. This allows you to be organised and provides you with the opportunity to plan your posts around what’s happening in your business. For example, if you’re launching your new product at 8:30am on a Monday morning, you can schedule a number of posts to go out in the week leading up to the launch, and on the morning of the launch.
Scheduling your posts doesn’t mean that you can’t post live or spontaneously during the week. It just means there is no pressure for you to post every single day. Just Set & Forget. You’ll find that when you take the stress away from posting, it will become more natural & fun.
How do you schedule a post?
Write your post as you normally would. You can attach photos, add links, add YouTube videos, add tags to other pages and events or just include regular text.
In the right-hand corner of your post, click the little arrow next to the publish button, and click Schedule and then simply choose the day and time you want your post to be published.
Once your post has been scheduled you can access it via the ‘publishing tools’ tab to edit or delete.
Create a Content Strategy
A content strategy is the single most important step in creating an effective Facebook Business Page. This will help you determine what type of information you will be sharing on your page on a regular basis. You’ll look at who your target audience is, what message you want to get across to them and the different ways in which you are able to engage with your audience & communicate your message.
This might take you a good hour or two to complete, but it’ll save you hours in the long run and will also lead to higher engagement rates, larger post reach & better conversion rates.
